Safety thrown to the wind

                                                                                                    Author: JP Smith
Image: Anglo-Viking Key (here)

11 of 12 given words
posturing (a mental or spiritual attitude)
lock-jaw (an accent associated with the upper class)
canter (an easy gallop)
laconic (using very few words| brief, terse)
adjuration (a solemn or desperate urging).
mellisonant (containing or constituting or characterized by pleasing melody)
ambiguous costume dope swan song  spare key

Posturing to indicate a polished personality
Extending a lock-jaw kind of accent guardedly
Not appearing ambiguous but to canter freely
Though laconic to maintain some form of dignity
Such an adjuration for all the beleaguered folks
To jive in a mellisonant form to some jokes
Such an attitude to maintain a lighter side
Of costume party convention to easily abide

No dope to numb the thinking process
Or it'll be a swan-song with no room to protest
A spare-key syndrome hidden under the carpet
Safety thrown to the wind, not a safe bet

a soft sigh in the misty morning

                                                                                        Uploaded by AlbertHerring
Image: Misty Morning Sunrise (here)

11 of 12 given words:
sigh mist mimic chime try
sky signal walk pebble shore
limber (warm up in for an activity)

a soft sigh in the misty morning
to limber up lithe and supple
mimic a chime to try to open up
for a person who is down and out

suggest to look up to the sky
to detect a signal perhaps
or just walk aimlessly
kicking a pebble along the way for inspiration
there is never a right nor a wrong way
to shore up the inner self

What would they need
A roof over their heads
Clean rooms so neat
Nicely made beds

There should not be a doubt
Who to occupy the Master Bedroom
Others to scramble, a game well fought
To make the best for other rooms

Sibling rivalry a constant headache
To test patience of the elders
Still, it was fun despite the heartache
What of it among brothers and sisters

A house as a function
Not just a house but a home!

Sitting all alone rightly in pain
Through misty eyes never
Even clear window panes

Could right the adverse
She had been gone quite a while
Eight months now unrehearsed
Only memories of her smile

Sustained semblance of sanity
Of the good times shared together
Revelation of heartbreak ostensibly
Masked with forced laughter

Autumn begging to be appreciated

                                                                                   Author: Scan by NYPL
Image: They Didn't Know What was Coming (here)

Autumn begging to be appreciated
Did well as a transition from warm to cold
To accord succulent fruits to be harvested
With perhaps a whole turkey into the fold

Chill of winter waving, blue of sky greyish
Many resigned to less hectic of activities
Halloween invented to liven up as a wish
Perceived melancholy seemed unhealthy

Holidays ended back to school for young ones
Lively sporting season built up to a crescendo
Major league games wrapped up within the months
To be mentally prepared for 'hibernation' woes

the 10 of 12 given words:
signal turn bombshell brunette melodious garage
gibbous moon (any moon that appears more than half lighted but less than full)
swain (a young lover or suitor|a country youth)
mawkish (sentimental in a feeble or sickly way)
fen (a low and marshy or frequently flooded area of land)
Lilliputian (a trivial or very small person or thing)

No signal at the turn
The sudden screeching of brakes pierced the
night followed by a loud crashing sound

Dicing with rush hour traffic
was inviting disaster
A gibbous moon did not help

A bombshell of a brunette
humming a melodious tune
stepped off the gleaming 2-seater

The swain of a guy in a mawkish
way tried to make amends
Hailed from a fen country
undeterred by flood waters
he tried to reason with her

He was prepared in towing the
2-seater to the nearest garage

She had none of it.
A Lilliputian distraction
so she said!

Just get off this play-acting
But aren't you forgetting your desire?
My wish is to remain unattached!
This is my way of seeing

The brow could not readily support
But to let it travel down unimpeded

Only moments ago it was hot summer
Now, none exhaustive but welcomed
The likes of a friendly Autumn sparingly
In the initial days but more pronounced
As the days progressed at its own pace

Beauty was in lightening the extremes
Hot air toned down to mild warm days
Cool rain before the harsh wintry months
No mistaking relief in the human heart
That's Autumn on a silver platter

sodden with knowledge

they appear to put up a brave front
of happiness in what they are doing
but in fact they really enjoy what they are doing

they allow themselves to be surprised
to be astounded by the mystery of their catch
that provides the lift on their enthusiasm

it rekindles the power to charge their energy
to help them brave the storm

guided only by the stars on dark nights

broods (the young at one hatching; children in a family)
athwart (to be perverse or contradictory)

It did not happen yesterday nor months
before but endured through the ages
Broods typically of one hatching or of
children in a family were often caught
in cauldrons of petty sibling rivalry

The hate could bring out the animal in them
The strong were known to shove off the weak
out of the nest through sheer instinct

The prettier would not miss taunting the plain Janes
to clear doubts of the more favored daughter

They played safe to live cautiously lest their words
ran athwart to getting them on opposite ends

Arkwright  (a skilled craftsman who produces wooden chests or coffers (Arks)

were there subterfuge elements
in its making?

on reflection he could detect
clandestine moves by some
interested parties lately

they could commit harakiri if they had
wanted to but why involve the young widow
suttee was long banned so no funeral
pyre to jump into any more

“Someone is walking over my grave” so he
mused when he felt the flutter
it would not take an Arkwright to realize it
the imp in him had wanted to explicitly know though

he could confront them with a barrage of cacophonic
expletives to provoke them but good sense prevailed

safe in the closet so that it would not be a bother to anyone
