A slice of history

Image: At the end of a long trail ride, four
cowboys got to a local saloon (here)

Sunday Whirligig given words:
slice walk coat-less stars touch roadside
flag games say kitchen thinking

3WW given words:
metallic optimal polished

A slice of history
A short walk to the saloon
Coat-less excepting one
Perhaps the leader

Stars of the wild west
Dressed for the kill
Nothing metallic nor optimal
But still a touch of class
A polished foursome

A pause by the roadside
A crowd gathered

Hey, hear you!

Under what flag are you on
We ain't playing games
Step aside, vamoose!
I say it once now git!

The crowd slowly dispersed
to make way but the saloon was
not having it any other way
It decided to close

They've closed their shutters
They are not serving us

Hey you, open up!
We ain't causin' no trouble
We're famished

The kitchen, we'll storm the kitchen
We'll serve ourselves!

Good thinking!
